James F. Battey, Jr.

James F. Battey, Jr. is the director of the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders and serves as vice chairman of the National Institutes of Health’s Stem Cell Task Force. He has held positions at the National Cancer Institute and National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in physics from the California Institute of Technology in 1974 and an M.D. and Ph.D. in biophysics from the Stanford University School of Medicine in 1980.
