Michael S. Gazzaniga

Michael S. Gazzaniga  is Professor and Director of the Sage Center for the Study of the Mind at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He founded and presides over the Cognitive Neuroscience Institute and is founding editor-in-chief of the Journal of Cognitive Neuroscience.  He is past president of the American Psychological Society and a member of the American Academy of the Arts and Sciences and the National Academies Institute of Medicine.  His research focuses on split-brain patients.  He has held positions at the University of California, Santa Barbara; New York University; the State University of New York, Stony Brook; Cornell University; Medical College; and the University of California, Davis.  He has written many notable books, including, most recently, The Ethical Brain and Human.
