Details of major BAW events/activities:
Stroop test activity - One graduate student conducted Stroop Tests and taught students about memory interference
Action potential activity- at this table, students did an activity where they passed balls back and forth to simulate an action potential and discussed the role of myelin
Neuroanatomy activity - students at this table got to hold and dissect sheep brains and play a neuroanatomy guessing game!
Concussion activity - students at this exhibit molded their brain out of playdough and discussed the importance of protecting your head and wearing helmets
Brain plasticity activity - at this exhibit students were able to wrap rubber bands around pushpins and discuss how your brain rewires and makes new connections
Frankenroach- At this table, students did a quick electrophysiology experiment to make cockroach legs dance.
EEG station - at this table students learned about an EEG and practiced putting electrodes on a brain model

I think the emails sent out by the Mayborn themselves were probably most successful as they reached the widest audience

How do you feel BAW participation benefited your organization and the local community?
I think most importantly the kids were excited about science and the parents were able to connect with scientists and ask questions they may have always wanted to know.
