TWENTY-FOUR SCHOOLS TO COMPETE IN NEW YORK “BRAIN BEE”
The Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives Presents Regional Contest
WHAT: | Students from 24 New York City-area high schools will participate in the 2008 Regional Brain Bee Competition, judged by A. James Hudspeth, M.D., Ph.D., F. M. Kirby Professor and Head of the Laboratory of Sensory Neuroscience at The Rockefeller University. The event is presented by the Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives, and co-sponsored by NRTA: AARP’s Educator Community and the Society for Neuroscience. The Brain Bee is a Q & A competition that tests high school students' knowledge of neuroscience. Students are quizzed on the brain and how it relates to memory, emotions, intelligence, behaviors, and disorders. The top three winners will receive cash prizes and other awards. During Brain Awareness Week, the first place winner will receive an all-expense paid trip to compete in the National Brain Bee, March 14 and 15, at the University of Maryland in Baltimore.
