I just read the above mentioned article. I was diagnosed with PTSD which arose from "catastrophic childhood abuse." (therapist term) After 20 years of intense therapy I am finally well. I am 66 years old. One part of me (there are 9) had dissociated into a child who could only point, but not speak. Why? The horror was unspeakable and very slow to return to my mind. Growing up, I could never vocalize a literal scream, even in play. Now, I can scream, and sing... much to my delight. My point is, EMDR works, in my opinon. So many books are written about PTSD, however, I find little information written about people who have healed. During my treatment I had undergone a sodium amytol interview, along with many other treatments. I'm one to say, EMDR works! Best wishes...
