I have paranoid schizophrenia. A few years ago, I was listening to a doctor talk on tv. His face appeared to transform into a honeycomb pattern and then seperated in half. I now understand that there was a problem with my fusiform gyrus. That's the part of the brain that processes faces.

I have been experiencing "Simple" visual hallucinations off and on for several years. I do not have corresponding migraines. I did experiment with LSD over 30 years ago. My visuals seem to only be in the Left eye; which has had stiches to the eyelid, and has sufferred traumatic Punches and kicks from Mixed Martial Arts. I am not truly debilitated by them but they are a distraction.

Luckily I have not experienced any while driving. I have found that the essential oil Eucalyptus Radiata which is a vasodilator stops them within moments. The oil I use is actually a blend from Young Living essential Oils called RC. I normally use it with clients that suffer light asthma attacks and Bronchitis. I used it once during a hallucination to treat some sinus congestion. I have used it several times since, applying the oil to the Glands along the jawline and the jugular vein as well as on the Mastoid region behind the ears.

Perhaps Essential oils are an option for migraines as well. There are several that are effective for migraines. Some which effect the nervous sytem and others that effect the circulatory system. Which would seem to indicate that migraines are caused by both or either. There are many oils that physiologically effect the nervous system on many levels. From anti-inflamatory to Changing the resistance of the Mylein Sheath. Thank You for the in depth research you brought together in this article "When seeing is not believing" Sincerly, Kenneth DeWayne Roberts

Wow....What a wonderful educational read!! I'm female, 40 and just moved about 2 months ago from California to New Mexico. We went from 150 to 5400 feet above sea level. About 3 weeks ago I started to have the most unusual flashes of light (kinda like shaky lightning) in the periphral vision of both of my eyes. Followed within minutes after a horrible headache. At first I didn't put two and two together however, they have happened at least every couple of days for about the last 3 weeks so I finally figured out they were somehow linked.

I had never had a migraine before so until I read this piece on "When Seeing Is Not Believing" I was begining to wonder what might be wrong!! I have not yet gone to the Dr. but plan to if they do not go away in the next couple of weeks. Thank You for having this publication for an educational benefit!!
