A Wake-Up Call About Sleeping Sickness

 I find this article very interesting. I am a middle school student at a school in MA and I'm doing a report on African Sleeping Sickness. I read in one article that trypanosomiasis cannot affect certain animals like antelope. Which animals can it affect, and does it have anything to do with the characteristics of their immune systems? (I plan on being a veterinarian). In a perfect world, all diseases would be scrutinized and down to a science so no one would have to face these horrible epidemics. But let's face it: No one has the time or money to do so.
