This article gives a nice overview of the current status of DBS in TS. Indeed the most important challenge up until now is to define the most optimal target (with the possibility of " tailored" targeting, in function of the clinical subtype). In this regard, not only the efficacy counts, but another important aspect are the potential stimulation-induced unwanted effects. In the Brain article mentioned by Linda Ackermans, stimulation-induced reduction of energy and subjective changes in oculomotion during stimulation of the medial part of the thalamus are described in detail.
