NPY may be modulating the immune response in the modified rats. What if the rats in the studies have a defined brain lesion? Would the presentation have been the same? Studies have shown that different parts of the brain (or a particular side) has a grater probability of enhancing or inhibiting T-cell activity. Such study may give more insights in NPY and specific brain activity.

I am interested in the hypothalamic, pituitary, adrenal axis and its proposed connection with psychological disorders and memory problems. How does this connect with hippocampal neuronal damage? In other words, anyone ever test veterans who have experieced acute stress--PTSD, neuropeptides, cortisol etc. levels against the general population? Robert Sapolsky and Erik Kandel have done many remarkable stress and memory studies (also Joseph LeDoux). I feel everyone should get together on this one. Things become much more complicated but extremely fascinating when you consider immune and central nervous systems.
