Paul Lichtenstein, Ph.D.

Paul LichtensteinPaul Lichtenstein, Ph.D., is a professor in genetic epidemiology and also head of the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the Karolinska Institutet in Sweden. He is a world-renowned twin and family researcher and an expert on using the unique Swedish population-based registers to answer questions regarding the causes and consequences of mental-health problems. He has won many awards, including the James Shields Award for Lifetime Contributions to Twin Research in 2011. Lichtenstein is funded by several Swedish agencies, as well as international funding sources such as the National Institutes of Health and the European Union.
