Claudia Buss

Claudia Buss, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of California, Irvine, School of Medicine, and a senior investigator with the UC Irvine Development, Health and Disease Research Program. Dr. Buss received her doctorate in psychobiology from the University of Trier, Germany, in 2006. Her research examines the biological mechanisms by which environmental exposures in early life shape neurodevelopmental trajectories that have implications for subsequent mental and physical health and disease risk outcomes, with an emphasis on the interface between psychological and biobehavioral (maternal-placental-fetal endocrine, immune, and genetic) processes in human pregnancy and fetal development. Dr. Buss’ work is supported by multiple research grants from the National Institutes of Health.
