Mia Thomaidou, Ph.D.

Mia Thomaidou, Ph.D., was a Dana Foundation Fellow in the Neuroscience & Society Frontiers Program from 2024-2026, where she supported grantmaking, program development, evaluation, and data science at the intersection of neuroscience and society. Mia is currently Associate Director of Fellowships and Professional Learning at the New York Academy of Sciences.

Previously, Mia completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Rutgers University’s School of Criminal Justice. Before moving to the United States, she completed her Ph.D. at Leiden University, focusing on behavioral and neuroimaging research, and held research roles at the VU Amsterdam Center for Neurogenomics and Cognitive Research and the University of Oxford’s Department of Psychiatry. Mia holds M.Sc. degrees in clinical neuropsychology and in comparative law, as well as a B.Sc. in cognitive neuroscience.

Mia has published more than 20 studies and book chapters and has taught courses in neuroscience, psychology, criminal justice, neurolaw, and statistics. She has lived in six cities across four countries and settled in Brooklyn, NY, in 2022. Outside of work, she enjoys sports, swimming, beach days, and spending time with friends and animals.
