Monthly Webinar Highlights Careers in Neuroscience and Society

September 11, 2025

The International Youth Neuroscience Association (IYNA) is a youth-led nonprofit dedicated to making neuroscience accessible to students around the world. One of its newest initiatives, Neuro&, is a monthly webinar series that explores the many ways neuroscience intersects with fields across society. Launched in collaboration with the Dana Foundation, the series gives students a chance to learn from professionals, discover diverse career paths, and find inspiration for their future.

Through hour-long Zoom sessions, participants have the chance to listen to distinguished speakers in neuroscience-related fields discuss their career journey and current work. With interactive discussions and live Q&As, students will be able to develop a better understanding of various professional fields that intersect with neuroscience, learn ways to further their own interests, and gain practical advice for their future careers.

Topics so far have included neuroscience at the intersection of communications, computational science, sleep and well-being, nonprofit management, social justice, ethics, engineering, and artificial intelligence.

“The Neuro& series is a great way for students and early-career neuroscientists to learn about ways in which neuroscience can intersect with other disciplines, particularly non-science approaches,” says Dana Foundation NextGen Program Director Ishan Dasgupta. “The series also helps trainees explore alternate and non-academic careers that can leverage their neuroscience backgrounds in service of positive societal change.”

While the series is aimed at high school students looking to explore different career paths, Neuro& encourages participants of all ages, and from all over the world, to attend. If participants cannot attend in person, recordings will be available on the Dana Foundation YouTube page and IYNA platforms.
