Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC)
Grant Information
This grant supports the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) in convening a symposium to advance the adoption and implementation of integrated behavioral health (IBH) models, which combine medical and behavioral health care to improve patient outcomes and reduce stigma around mental health. The symposium, scheduled for July 2025, will bring together healthcare leaders, researchers, and providers to address barriers to IBH implementation, including clinical workforce pressures, financial challenges, and siloed care structures. Participants will develop a strategic blueprint to catalyze novel IBH models within academic health systems, identify key success factors, and foster a cross-sector community to drive national policy change and enhance patient care. This symposium is part of the Collective to Strengthen Pathways for Health Research, a partnership of multiple philanthropic organizations, including the Doris Duke Foundation, Burroughs Wellcome Fund, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Donaghue Foundation, Robertson Foundation, Susan G. Komen, and the Dana Foundation. The Collective aims to fill critical gaps in health research funding and policy by elevating voices and ideas that can develop actionable strategies for improving disease prevention and health outcomes.
Supporting this symposium aligns with the Dana Foundation’s values by fostering trust through shared best practices and collaborative decision-making, emphasizing empathy by prioritizing whole-person care and valuing patient experiences, and remaining grounded in evidence-based strategies aimed at practical, sustainable impact for human well-being.
