Baylor College of Medicine Center for Medical Ethics and Health Policy

Grant Information

$150,700
Amount
2024
Year Awarded
Dana NextGen
Program

Building upon an existing successful program at Baylor College of Medicine’s Center for Medical Ethics and Health Policy, this grant will support the creation of a new Neuroscience and Society Internship Program for undergraduate and graduate students. The student interns will receive practical experience and exposure to the intersection of neuroscience and ethical considerations—learning to think critically about advancements in the field in addition to building technical skills and research methodologies. The main outputs of the program are providing an embedded summer research experience as well as an opportunity for student interns to participate in weekly lunch-and-learn sessions; these sessions provide an equal balance of detailing various interdisciplinary neuroscience disciplines as well as insights on career growth and development (e.g., navigating an academic career, starting an independent research group, forging partnerships and collaborations).
