Grant Information
The Dana Foundation supports a Civic Science Fellow at the Center for the Neurobiology of Learning and Memory (CNLM) at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) to explore the societal implications of sleep neuroscience. The Fellow explores the neuroscientific links between sleep and well-being in partnership with the people of Santa Ana, California, through dialogue and joint work between sleep neuroscientists and community members. Proactively engaging individuals from all backgrounds at this early stage of the discovery process enables progress in sleep neuroscience to not only impact these communities but also better reflect their experiences and needs.
The Civic Science Fellowships align with the Dana Frontiers objectives to pilot innovative multidirectional engagement opportunities to embed community perspectives in research, policy, and decision-making and to support and empower neuroscience and society practitioners who champion inclusive, effective models of multidirectional engagement with diverse publics.
