Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS)

This grant will continue support for the FENS-Dana Foundation Brain Awareness Week grants program in Europe. The program will provide grants of up to €1000 each for outreach and engagement activities organized in celebration of the 2024 Brain Awareness Week campaign. FENS opened the call for proposals in July 2023.

FENS disseminated the 2024 call for applications to their 22,000 member neuroscientists, as well as past grantees, ensuring a diversity of applicants and a competitive selection process, funding the best ideas and most innovative approaches to neuroscience outreach and engagement. The heightened activity in regions across Europe and the social media attention generated by participants will amplify the importance of neuroscience and result in increased visibility to Brain Awareness Week, FENS, and the Dana Foundation.

The FENS-Dana grantees will be required to report on the results of their activities at the close of the 2024 campaign, and their reports will be posted on both FENS and Dana Foundation websites as a resource for prospective grantees and other Brain Awareness Week event organizers.

This grant supports the Dana Education objective to support sustained informal education that aims to strengthen knowledge of neuroscience and its connections to society and empower people of all ages to use that knowledge in their every day lives.
