Program

In partnership with the Institute of Neuroethicsthe first global think tank wholly dedicated to neuroethics—the FENS Forum hackathon in Vienna, Austria, will bring together interdisciplinary teams of trainees and early-career scholars to work within a limited timeframe to creatively address ethical challenges posed by advancements in neuroscience. The goal will be to design a solution to a neuroethics problem, or to create tools for educational outreach or exportable models of neuroethics engagement. Recognizing the rapid development of technologies, techniques, data, and knowledge related to the brain, as well as the equally rapid development of misinformation, the Foundation’s support of the hackathon helps to meet an urgent need to establish shared understanding and capacity for action around neuroethics; furthermore, it contributes to building a community network to support researchers as they grow into the next phases of their careers to become ethically-attuned scientists.
