International Brain Research Organization (IBRO)
Grant Information
This grant will continue support for the IBRO/Dana Foundation Brain Awareness Week grants program for the 2025 campaign. The program provides grants of up to $1,250 USD for outreach and engagement activities in Africa, Asia/Pacific, Latin America, and United States/Canada.
The IBRO/Dana Foundation Brain Awareness Week grants program advances the field of neuroscience and society by demystifying neuroscience concepts and promoting understanding of brain science among people of all ages and backgrounds. With Foundation support, IBRO will administer the grants program in alignment with the Foundation’s new mission by encouraging applicants to explore topics at the intersection of neuroscience and society as central aspects of their 2025 Brain Awareness Week programming. This will increase the number of events addressing societal issues such as mental health awareness and the impact of technology on the brain, among many others. Integral for the BAW 2025 programming, evaluation of how the proposed event addresses issues relevant to neuroscience and society, how effectively the event will engage local communities in dialogue around the societal implications of brain science, and the impact of advancing understanding of neuroscience and society within the local community will be measured. IBRO aims to increase the diversity of countries represented in Brain Awareness Week events while encouraging a wide variety of event formats, ensuring broader global representation and engagement with diverse cultural perspectives.
This grant supports the Dana Education objective to support sustained informal education that aims to strengthen knowledge of neuroscience and its connections to society and empower people of all ages to use that knowledge in their everyday lives.
