Loyola University Chicago
Grant Information
A Foundation planning grant for a potential Dana Center for Neuroscience & Society was awarded to Loyola University Chicago. The proposed Center focused on a neuroethics-fueled approach to increasing interest in neuroscience research careers among underrepresented high school and middle school students, the development of novel ethics-enhanced master’s programs in neuroscience, a unique neuroethics competition, and integrating neuroscience research with the humanities, social equity, and community engagement. The planning grant team assembled a group of faculty from multiple schools at Loyola Chicago (Education, Business, Medicine, Communication, Law) and disciplines (Fine Arts, Philosophy, Computer Science).
This grant supports the Dana NextGen objective to encourage rigorous, collaborative, and cross-disciplinary work between neuroscience and non-science disciplines to solve complex problems that cannot be answered by neuroscience alone.
