Program

A Foundation planning grant for a potential Dana Center for Neuroscience & Society was awarded to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The proposed Center focused on addressing a fundamental gap between neuroscience education, training, and research; scholarship in the ethical, legal and social implications of research; and public engagement. The MIT Museum served as the administrative home to ensure public involvement was integrated into Center activity. The planning grant team was guided by two core principles: (1) Recognition that the interplay between neuroscience and society is vast and rapidly changing such that it requires continual critical examination and (2) that the proposed Center must bring together its domains of interest so that they work together synergistically and with mutual respect.
