Society for Neuroscience (SfN)
Grant Information
This grant supports BrainFacts.org, the Society for Neuroscience’s (SfN) award-winning, editorially independent website and public education initiative that empowers people to explore our ever-expanding understanding of the brain. With more than two million online users worldwide, including students, teachers, and the science-curious public, BrainFacts.org serves as a valuable and widely used source for accessible, reliable, and scientifically accurate stories and educational resources about the brain and nervous system.
With this support, BrainFacts.org continues to produce storytelling resources that place developments in brain research into context within the wider frame of the news and society. Themes under consideration for 2026 include the stressed brain; understanding autism spectrum disorder; vaccines, infections, and the brain; social media and the brain; and the aging brain. Throughout the grant, BrainFacts.org produces more than 75 content resources, utilizing a wide variety of formats including articles, interviews, videos, animations, infographics, and learning modules, to serve their varied audiences and remain current with digital trends.
To increase audience engagement with both new and existing content, BrainFacts.org is launching a new monthly newsletter, Substantia, which provides neuroscience outreach and education communities with a curated compilation of activities, information, and teaching techniques to support their work and broaden dissemination and awareness of the breadth and depth of BrainFacts.org’s resources.
This grant supports the Dana Education objective to empower people of all ages to use neuroscience in their everyday lives by strengthening their knowledge of the field’s real-world applications and ethical considerations through sustained informal education programs.
