Year Awarded
Dana NextGen
Program

The Leadership Alliance Dana Neuroscience and Society Scholars Program provides intensive interdisciplinary research experiences in neuroscience and society for undergraduate students from racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, and geographic backgrounds that are underrepresented in neuroscience. This funding supports two undergraduate students from Brooklyn College, who will participate in a summer neuroscience research experience at Brown University at the Carney Institute for Brain Science and join the existing Dana-funded Neuroscience and Society Scholars Program cohort. The trainees’ interactions with peers and participation in shared mentorship activities will lead to an enriching interdisciplinary experience that informs their understanding of the connections between neuroscience and society and leads to their overall professional development.

This grant supports the Dana NextGen objective to strengthen workforce development for careers within academia and beyond, empowering a new generation of scholars in neuroscience and society who will shepherd neuroscience’s positive role in the world.
