A Foundation planning grant for a potential Dana Center for Neuroscience & Society was awarded to a collaborative effort from Charles Drew University and the University of California Los Angeles. The proposed Center focused on developing new frameworks, methods, and pedagogical approaches towards better understanding the societal consequences and socially embedded nature of neuroscientific knowledge and ensuring that advances in neuroscience have a positive impact on society. The collaboration brings together scholars from the neuroscience, social science, and philosophy to work collaboratively with clinicial-scholars and community leaders deeply engaged in the complex relationship between neurologic and psychiatric disorders and social context.
