Program

The University of Washington BRAINS (Broadening Representation of Academic Investigators in Neuroscience) program builds, nurtures, and sustains a vibrant national and inclusive community of post-PhD neuroscientists from underrepresented groups as they succeed, lead, and transform neuroscience. The Foundation grant supports a two-year pilot project to open the BRAINS program to early career scholars who are working at the intersection of neuroscience and society as well as embed consideration of society into existing programming. In addition to supporting diverse workforce development within academia and beyond, the BRAINS program encourages rigorous collaborative, cross-disciplinary work that is a hallmark of the NextGen program by bringing early career scholars with backgrounds in non-neuroscience fields into a shared community of neuroscientists.
