UnRavelled Outreach Project (Producer Hub, Inc.)
Grant Information
This grant supports the UnRavelled Outreach Program in piloting a multi-state, community-embedded approach to reshape public understanding of frontotemporal dementia (FTD) through arts-based engagement, storytelling, and neuroscience education. Designed to accompany the award-winning play UnRavelled, which portrays the true story of scientist-turned-artist Anne Adams and her FTD diagnosis, the program will center patients and caregivers as co-designers of programming and resources. Activities will include trans-modal art workshops, locally adapted roadmaps connecting FTD patients and families to medical and advocacy resources, and a continuing medical education (CME) course developed with clinicians and community partners to improve early recognition of FTD and care for affected patients.
The touring model will launch in Los Angeles with planned stops in San Francisco, Philadelphia, New York City, and other locations, engaging local communities in co-creating sustainable tools and fostering ongoing partnerships between neuroscience researchers, health providers, artistic collaborators, and the FTD community.
This grant supports the Dana Frontiers program’s objectives in creating innovative multidirectional engagement opportunities by embedding community perspectives into research, care, and education through a flexible, site-specific outreach model. In doing so, this project supports the Dana Foundation’s mission to advance neuroscience that benefits society and its commitment to seeking out transformational ideas, fostering empathy to improve people’s lives.
