Neuroscience and K-12 Education

Understanding the brain is central to understanding ourselves. Incorporating neuroscience into K–12 education nurtures students’ curiosity, inviting them to explore how the brain shapes their thoughts, behaviors, and day-to-day experiences. By engaging with neuroscience through a societal lens, more specifically, young learners not only develop scientific curiosity and critical thinking skills but also begin to see themselves as part of the scientific community, encouraging them to ask deeper questions about the world around them. For educators, it presents a powerful framework to connect science education with broader social and ethical themes, while opening doors to future study and careers in neuroscience and beyond.
