Funded in March, 2003: $40000 for 1 years
The Dana Foundation grant will support a pilot series of training forums (working title - Choreographers on Campus) for dance artists and dance teachers who work with all age levels, including K-12, to consider the role of professional dance artists in education. This will focus on the responsibility of institutions of higher education (Universities, Conservatories) to prepare professional track students in innovative education possibilities. Forum research will be grounded in the work of the National College Choreography Initiative (NCCI), a pre-professional training program that provides students with the experience of working alongside professional choreographers.
